    Alex Bowie
    Brisbane, Australia

Alex Bowie first discovered a passion for photojournalism on the streets of Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he witnessed bombings, shootings and rioting as a student commuting to and from art college. After graduating with a BA (Hons.), Bowie went on to photograph socio-political conflict in many of the world’s trouble spots during the 1970s and 1980s, including Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Spain, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines. In the early 1980s he worked mainly on assignment for Time & People magazines and was accredited to the magazine's Bangkok bureau from 1981 to 1985. His work has appeared in numerous respected international media, including the International Herald Tribune, Time, People, Newsweek, Stern, New York Times, London Sunday Times, Irish Times, the Times and the Guardian. Now represented by Getty Images, Alex Bowie's photographs continue to be published in documentary films, books and various media.
