About
Steve Lacey was born on the 14th May 1961. Living in the Fishpond's area of Bristol most of his young life, he was very keen on Martial Arts, including Hung Gar and Tae Kwon Do.
In the late 70’s, Steve had a chance to work at a busy restaurant called Chopsticks Chinese restaurant, in the Clifton area of Bristol, which is now called the Grand City. The proprietor at that time was Mr Chan, was well known in the Chinese community and affectionately called “Old man Chan”. As a master of speciality foods, such as dim sum, he taught Steve everything he could about Cantonese cooking. When Mr Chan retired and sold the Chopsticks restaurant, Steve took his talents to House of Wong on White Ladies Road in the Clifton area of Bristol.
Steve no longer works full time in any restaurant, but is often asked to come in and help out when the owners need extra chefs, as his talent is known and recognised by all in the Chinese community, in Bristol and throughout the South West of England.
