    About the Book

    Edit

The first in a series of 13 short books about American Musical instrument builders, John Pedersen is both a luthier and a fine maker of Uilleann Bagpipes. For over 25 years, John has been making these beautiful instruments in his shop at Amazing Grace Music in San Anselmo, California. Unlike Scottish Bagpipes, the Irish pipes are played sitting down and are quiet and sophisticated enough to be played indoors and often with fiddles and drums. John fashions his pipes out of turned ebony, forged brass and stainless steel, with reeds his makes from a local patch of California cane, considered the highest quality cane available for reeds. This book features images of John's work, his workshop and music store.
