Alex and Debbie White Plume host annual pony races at Kiza Park in Manderson, SD on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Participants compete in categories grouped by age or type of race.

The most dramatic race is called "capture the flag" where everyone chases "Custer" to capture his flag.

Pickett also directed the short film NO MORE PIPELINE BLUES (ON THIS LAND WHERE WE BELONG) (5 minutes, 2020.) Pickett is the author of “Love in the 90s”, (Warner Books, 1995), “FAERIES” (Aperture, 2000) and “Saving Body & Soul; The Mission of Mary Jo Copeland, texts by Margaret Nelson, Photographs by Keri Pickett” (Shaw Books, 2004) including fellowships from the National Endowment for Arts, McKnight, Jerome and Bush Foundations. She is a member of Film Fatales.
