    About the Book

    Edit

Carol Caputo is an urban romantic who uses images in the same way that poets us words. In this exciting series, Carol explores a tale of two cities, one real and the other imagined. Her curious, visual rhythm is achieved digitally by layering and altering her own photographs’ with textural line drawings. This confluence of fantasy and design takes you on a spirited journey to unknown places--a visual vacation without a road map. Though the images look familiar, their original line, shape, and color, take on new meaning in Carol’s abstract world. “I like the challenge of putting rough textured pictures together with quiet organic ones. It forces me to change my perspective and see my environment differently.” LandEscape aims to integrate urban with suburban images in a way that allows the viewer to experience hope. Carol views the urban landscape... with its kinetic energy... as a moving visual feast waiting to be plucked. LandEscape celebrates this folly, with nature as its congenial anchor.

    CAROL CAPUTO
    NYC , NY, USA

Carol Caputo’s career is a collage of award-winning creative projects. For more than 30 years her Illustrations and designs have appeared in magazines and theater productions, on posters and on TV. An early leader in her field, she led the way for a new generation of women artist. Carol is restless and eclectic and she challenges her craft that she learned at the School of Visual Arts as one of its first female recipients of a full scholarship. Her paintings, drawings, sculptures and films have been exhibited at the Art Directors Club, the Society of Illustrators, Lever House, as well as in numerous galleries. There is a primitive and energetic feel to her work that is inspired by her travels in China, India and Europe. This influence can be seen in the bold colors and patterns found in some of her earlier works. But what inspired this New York girl most is New York City.
