About the Creator
Matthew “Macky” Cortellesi was born in New York City, where he still lives today. For years, he has roamed the streets with a camera in hand, searching for a unique way to capture the beauty and quirkiness of his beloved city. One day, he discovered that the city and its people were alive, well, and thriving in the thousands of pools of water found throughout New York. In these reflections, it was nature that dictated where Matthew aimed his camera; the sun, wind, and clouds made the mundane majestic and the majestic whimsical. Matthew understands that water is not stagnant. It does not sit still for a pose or wait patiently for the perfect shot. In fact, it is the recording of these imperfect moments that Matthew celebrates and documents as once-in-a-lifetime photographs. Matthew’s award-winning work has been featured in magazines, on record covers, and in galleries, and can be found hanging in happy offices and happy homes across the world.
