About the Book
What happens when you walk away from everything familiar—and keep walking?
Swapping the grey skies of the UK for something different, a husband and wife set out on a deeply personal fifteen-year journey across Europe. From the quiet lanes of rural France to the unexpected turns of life in Poland, this heartfelt memoir traces their search for purpose, belonging, and a sense of home in the most unlikely places.
Along the way, he teaches English to strangers while together they navigate unfamiliar languages and customs, confronting solitude with curiosity and courage. Each chapter captures the quiet challenges—and surprising rewards—of starting over and building a life far from where they began.
Both travelogue and personal reflection, this is a candid exploration of reinvention, resilience, and the freedom that comes from letting go.
Warm, honest, and quietly inspiring, it’s a story for anyone who’s ever dreamed of packing a suitcase and discovering who they are somewhere else.

About the Creator
Originally from London, I now live in a quiet part of Poland. After a career in criminal law and success in obtaining a post graduate diploma in personnel and development I found myself stepping into a new path—human resources—a field that felt more aligned with how I wanted to work with people. I spent several years living and working in France and Poland. This is my first book—born from the journey of starting over in unfamiliar places. This book is a reflection on the challenges and joys of leaving the UK to begin a new life abroad. It captures my journey—through France and into Poland—shared through words and photographs, taken from my lifelong interest in photography. My hope is that readers can sense the atmosphere, the culture, and the day-to-day reality of a life reshaped by travel. If the story and images stir something in you, then I’ll have succeeded in sharing something truly meaningful.
