About the Book
Morgan crafts a lyrical journey that moves from introspective moments of struggle to explosive declarations of freedom, weaving together themes of cultural identity, ancestral memory, and unapologetic self-love--also tied to her passion for photography. The collection explores the complexity of Black joy—not as mere happiness, but as a form of resistance that emerges from and alongside hardship. Through vivid imagery of ocean waves, Caribbean rhythms, and family kitchens, the poet creates a geography of belonging that spans continents and generations.
