    About the Book

    Edit

Japan holds a deep reverence for nature, viewing the natural world as imbued with a spiritual energy called Kami. This spiritual energy may be found in something as simple as the breeze gently swaying the flags adorning Japanese doorways. Amidst the urban hustle, within the heart of Japan's bustling cities, can be found many shrines and temples. Here, visitors may escape the secular chaos and step into a peaceful sacred space to connect with the divine. Japan, like the Haiku, is simple yet complex. There is a certain brevity and simplicity in its beauty, a sense of the profound in the ordinary.

Our temporary home in Kobe, a small flat in Chuo Ward, provided an opportunity to meld into the Japanese way. From the unique culinary wonders of Kobe to the mystique of ancient temples, and even a simple stroll through downtown, Japan provided endless fascination.
