    About the Book

    Edit

"All the water that will ever be is right now." states the National Geographic.
This fine art photographic book documents the photographic journey around the Great Lakes by Jane Camp, Professor of Art at Heartland Community College. Using ten various film and digital cameras Jane made photographs that embody the powerful and sometimes gentle rhythmic movement of water. Each page reveals unique photos that vary similar subject matter through the way each camera type captured the aquatic vistas. This book explores Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario through stunning photos created with digital cameras, film, and instant film.

    Jane Camp
    Normal, IL United States

I am an art educator working as a Professor of Art at Heartland Community College, Normal, Illinois, as well as a working and exhibiting artist. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Master of Science degree in studio art and Master of Fine Arts degree from Illinois State University. The current theme of my photographic work addresses the Waters of the Great Lakes. I received a sabbatical from Heartland Community College to explore the Great Lakes through analog and digital photographic formats. The goal in this body of images is to exemplify how various cameras capture a similar scene with interesting peculiarities to create visual interest from the same subject. Much of my drawings and paintings focuses on a group I called "Random Pages". Random bits from nature become enlarged and abstracted to suggest something beyond their origins. It is the unknown that can be the most fascinating, the most mysterious.
