    About the Book

    Edit

The physical walls found about the city of Rochester, NY., both new and in decay are followed by the uplifting scenes of Gloucester and Boston harbors. These sequences allowed the author to focus on the connections between our inner thoughts of the present day and future possibilities. A wall is something that keeps others out, that protects and hides what is kept behind it. Walls are necessary, especially in an imperfect world. If our walls are always up, then no one can come in and we cannot get out. We must look within and without, and start breaking down our walls. But this time, rather than building a wall, we will build a home, a home that is shared by all, and where all are welcome.

The author focuses on images of nature and urban environments found in our daily lives. Yet, when taken out of context and composed within new frame works, can be elevated to reveal unique combinations of light, texture, shapes, and color. Adapted texts are included with the image series from the works of R. Tzvi Freeman and Rb. Sara Crispe. R. Tzvi Freeman writes; "Beauty is captured here on the page, yet retains its freedom. The borders of the page's frame, rather than restricting our view, draw us inward to reveal boundless wonder. Somehow, in the focus of B. Gorin's camera, we discover that infinity was hiding all along in plain sight"

Michoel Muchnik, esteemed Chassidic artist, writes, "B. Gorin's photographs and their accompanying meditative style insights help us develop a more intimate look at our Creator's handiwork, as it were. The best part about it, is the inspiration we gain to look around us on our own, to become ever more aware of the lessons we can learn from even the minutest details."

Yet, when taken out of context and composed within new “frame works”, the same natural phenomena can be elevated to reveal unique combinations of light, texture, shapes, and color. What other artists say about B. Gorin’s work: R. Tzvi Freeman, who writes of Gorin’s work: "Beauty is captured here on the page, yet retains its freedom.
