About the Book
Sadie Belle Carey was the second child of a remarkable family that homesteaded in North Central Idaho in the 1890s. This book explains the circumstances that brought her parents together, as well as the often-tragic stories of neighbors who came to America looking for a better life. Dozens of excerpts from letters written by Sadie, her family and her friends give us a glimpse of what life was like in rural America in the early 1900s.
